As an interdisciplinary studies of business and communications student I have devoted half of my studies thus far to learning about communication in many different contexts. It is extremely important to be able to communicate with people properly because it is something we do every single day. I have developed my interpersonal communication skills by working in the service industry for 5 years and interacting with people from all over the world on a daily basis. Cultivating and nurturing relationships with associates, clients, and many others through interpersonal communication is extremely important in the business world. I have attached two projects I have completed in my studies that demonstrate my understanding and assessment of interpersonal communication through different mediums.
The first link, "Email and Miscommunication", leads to a research study I previously conducted on the ways in which email as a medium in which to communicate can effect workplace communication and dissatisfaction of employee relationship and overall happiness.
The second link includes a presentation I put together regarding "blind spots" in communication. Blind spots are things that an individual does that they do not realize they are doing but others do. This also includes the gap between one's intended behavior and the way they are actually acting. When communicating inter-personally, especially in the workplace, it is extremely important to diagnose blind spots and help others to do the same to avoid mistakes in communication.
